Spring, Round 2: February 11, 2003

Round Two of the Spring 2003 Karting Challenge was great fun, coupled with annoying timing glitches.

We'll focus on the fun first

First, welcome to our new participants! We had a fairly light crowd of 12 people, but we had two new people come out to play: John G. and Jano's brother James. Greg showed up as well to watch the fun.

The karts are still deteriorating, but hope is on the horizon. I was speaking with the manager, and TBC is converting to gas powered karts within the next few months. According to him, the new karts will be lighter and more responsive, and TBC will be able to keep more of them in stock and running.

All in all I had a good time, and I hope everyone else did also.

Now to the racing. The races seemed to be competitive, but it was hard to tell with a number of timing and transponder errors. To complicate the matter, the last two results sheets we were given (including the final), were formatted incorrectly to rank based on total laps run rather than fast time. Unfortunately, that error wasn't caught until after the podium ceremony.

The results of the Final were Rob L. first, Jim E. second. Chris F. and Ron R. tied for third.

There were 3 qualifying races due to timing issues on the first race. The best two results were used for qualifying points, so there are duplicates of positions in the 'Points Earned Round 2' chart. If there are other questions, please email me.

The Spring 2003 series will run from January through June on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The next event is February 11, 2003.
